Exec: Siemens says Russia’s idea to disclose turbine codes good
VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 6 (PRIME) –A proposal by the Russian Energy Ministry to force producers of electric power equipment to disclose the control codes of turbines is interesting, Siemens’ President for Russia and Central Asia Dietrich Moller said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum Wednesday.
Siemens said in July that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing the company to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
Deputy Energy Minister Andrei Cherezov suggested in late July to force Russian and foreign turbine producers to disclose the software control codes.
Moller said, “It is too early to comment on this. We are in constant dialogue with our clients. This is a very interesting issue which needs analysis.”
